Momčilo Moma Nikolić

Momo was born in the ancient city of Novi Sad in Vojvodina, a multi-cultural province of the former Yugoslavia. The rich heritage of his upbringing instilled in him a love of Slavic and classical music. Momo studied music at the music school "Isidor Bajic" in Novi Sad. He is an extremely gifted musician, who plays many stringed instruments. Momo plays the Prim Tamburitza, and is known to be a master of this instrument. He was a member of the great Tamburitza orchestra of RTV-Novi Sad (1970-1990) as instrumental soloist. He is best known in performing with the legendary Janika Balaz Orchestra "8 Tamburitza of Petrovaradin."

Guitarist, composer and improviser Miroslav Tadic completed his formal music education in the United States after studying in Italy and his native Yugoslavia.

He has performed and recorded in a wide variety of settings and musical styles, ranging from music of the Baroque and Classical periods to Blues, Jazz, and Rock.

Tadic's performing and recording credits include projects with Mark Nauseef, The Los Angeles Opera with Placido Domingo, Howard Levy, Joachim Kühn, L. Shankar, Markus Stockhausen, Dusan Bogdanovic, Vlatko Stefanovski, Teofilovic Brothers, Wadada Leo Smith, David Torn, Maria João, Jack Bruce, The Grande Mothers, Theodosii Spassov, Kudsi Erguner, Djivan Gasparyan, Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri and Ustad Ashish Khan, among others.

Zora Mihailovich is an Artist-in-Residence at the University of Rochester. She did her undergraduate through postgraduate studies at Belgrade School of Music and Academia di Musica "Santa Cecilia" Rome (Italy). She has studied with Carlo Zecchi, Arturo Benedetti Michelangelli and Daniel Pollack. She made her debut with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra at age sixteen. Ms. Mihailovich has given performances in major music centers in North America and Europe including London's Wigmore Hall, New York's Carnegie Hall, London's Royal Festival Hall, Washington's DAR Constitution Hall, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Warsaw's Philharmonic Hall, and Brussel's Conservatoire Royal, among others..

Nikola Resanovic

Nikola Resanovic
Nikola Resanovic (born 1955) is an American composer and professor of music. He is the winner of the 2003 Cleveland Arts Prize in Music and is one of Ohio's best known living composers.

In 1955, he was born in Derby, England. Resanovic moved to the United States where he has been a naturalized citizen since 1976. He holds degrees from the University of Akron and the Cleveland Institute of Music. He is currently a Professor of Music and the University of Akron.

Milos Raickovich (Милош Раичковић, Miloš Raičković), composer and conductor, was born in Belgrade (Serbia, Yugoslavia), in 1956. He has lived and worked in Belgrade, Paris, Los Angeles, Honolulu, Hiroshima and New York, where he now resides. While in Belgrade, Milos Raickovich was the founder of the Ensemble for Other New Music (1977), as well as one of the founders of the Belgrade Youth Philharmonic, later known as the Borislav Pascan Youth Philharmonic (1977). He has also worked as an assistant conductor at the Belgrade Opera House.

Composer Katarina Miljkovic investigates interaction between science, music and nature through collaborative musical performance. This interest led her to the mathematician Benoit Mandelbrot's essay The Fractal Geometry of Nature and self-similar complex structures resulting in the cycle, Forest, “…a dreamy piece, along the lines of Feldman or Brown, entirely captivating (Signal to Noise). Her generative music has been described as a refined, hypnotic dream (Danas) a work of musical and visual slow-motion with only a few delicately elaborated musical metaphors (Radio Belgrade), "ambient tone poem... that moved hypnotically through the sonic frame" (Lucid Culture).

A star of the Belgrade, Yugoslavia Opera, Milena Kitic made her operatic debut in 1989, as Olga in Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin." She performed at the National Theater in Belgrade for 8 years in a wide range of roles: from Rosina in Rossini's "Il Baribiere di Siviglia", Cherubino in Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro", Preziosilla in Verdi's "La Forza del destino", Fenena in "Nabucco'', to the title role of Carmen and Principessa de Buillon in Cilea's "Adiana Lecouvreur."

Željko Lučić (born 24 February 1968) is a Serbian operatic baritone who has had an active international career since 1993. He was a member of the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad from 1993–1998 and at the Frankfurt Opera from 1998-2008. He is particularly well known for his performances in the operas of Giuseppe Verdi; having portrayed a total of 23 leading roles from the great composer's works.

Marko V. Jaric was born on March 17, 1952 in Belgrade. He completed his elementary school education in Belgrade and attended the Air Force Military High School in Mostar where he graduated in 1970 as the best student of his class. Subsequently he enrolled at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics where he received a degree in physics in 1974, graduating as the best student of his generation. He received his Ph.D. in 1978 at the City University of New York with professor Joseph Birman, one of the most prominent physicists in solid-state physics, as his thesis advisor.

My Brother's Keeper

Rare are the books of Orthodox Christian authors that deal with the subject of politics in a comprehensive way. It is taken for granted that politics has to do with the secularized (legal) protection of human rights (a reproduction of the philosophy of the Enlightenment), within the political system of so-called "representative democracy", which is limited mostly to social utility or to the conventional rules of human relations. Most Christians look at politics and democracy as unrelated with their experience of the Church herself, which abides both in history and in the Kingdom, the eschaton. Today, the commercialization of politics—its submission to the laws of publicity and the brainwashing of the masses—has literally abolished the "representative" parliamentary system. So, why bother with politics when every citizen of so-called developed societies has a direct everyday experience of the rapid decline and alienation of the fundamental aspects of modernity?

In the Orthodox milieu, Christos Yannaras has highlighted the conception of the social and political event that is borne by the Orthodox ecclesiastical tradition, which entails a personalistic (assumes an infinite value of the human person as opposed to Western utilitarian individualism) and relational approach. Fr Radovan Bigovic follows this approach. In this book, the reader will find a faithful engagement with the liturgical and patristic traditions, with contemporary thinkers, Orthodox and non-Orthodox, all in conversation with political science and philosophy. As an excellent Orthodox theologian and a proponent of dialogue, rooted in the catholic (holistic) being of the Orthodox Church and of his Serbian people, Fr Radovan offers a methodology that encompasses the above-mentioned concerns and quests.
