Академија „Свети Сава” 1. и 2. октобра свечано прославља 15 година од оснивања – Рад су почели са 37 ученика, а данас их имају 127 и тренутно преговарају о куповини нове, веће зграде.

На најбољи начин српска православна Академија „Свети Сава“ у Чикагу дочекује овогодишњу прославу петнаестогодишњице постојања – са плановима за повећање простора. Садашња зграда, уз цркву Васкрсења Христовог у улици Норт Редвуд Драјв, тесна је за све ђаке, који наставу похађају на српском и руском језику. Школску годину у којој обележавају и свој јубилеј, Академија „Свети Сава“ започела је са рекордним бројем ђака од оснивања, објашњава у разговору за наш лист Ненад Ђорђевић, председник Одбора повереника Академије „Свети Сава“.

– Имамо 127 ученика и 22 наставника, што је 18 одсто више ђака у односу на прошлу годину. Због тога, али и зато што постоји додатно интересовање, школа тренутно преговара о куповини зграде од 1800 квадратних метара у близини наше цркве – напомиње Ђорђевић.

The Collections Management Training Program provides education and training in the contemporary profession of Museum Collections Management, an emerging profession originating in the U.S. Essential to the furtherance of a vibrant professional arts presence in a present-day context, its focus is a contemporary and practical approach to the care, management and presentation of art and cultural heritage, development, education and outreach. It can play an important role in the protection of cultural treasures as well as contribute to a reenergized economy through significant cultural outreach, both locally and internationally.

На Њујоршкој недељи моде која се завршила јуче троје дизајнера из Србије приказало је своје колекције на самосталним ревијама. Прилику да буду део светског дешавања имали су креатори Василије Ковачев и Бата Спасојевић, као и Весна Милошевић, дизајнерка накита.

Дан пре изласка манекена у моделима српских креаторка, које још није видела ни публика у нашој земљи, у конзулату Републике Србије у Њујорку организован је пријем са пригодном изложбом у част њиховог учешћа на тамошњој модној манифестацији.

Helen Delich Bentley, the colorful and cantankerous former Maryland congresswoman whose fierce advocacy for the port of Baltimore led to its being named in her honor, died Saturday. 

Mrs. Bentley, who was 92, died at her home in Timonium, said longtime aide Key Kidder. She had brain cancer.

She had a long and varied career that took her from The Baltimore Sun newsroom to the Federal Maritime Commission to the U.S. House of Representatives. She ran for governor in 1994 but lost in the Republican primary.

On May 24, 2016, on behalf of His Grace Bishop MAXIM of the Western American Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church in North and South America, Father Branislav Golic and I presented the book Christian Heritage of Kosovo and Metohija as a gift to the Gumberg Library at Duquesne University. On behalf of the Gumberg Library and Duquesne University, the book was accepted by Dr. Sara Baron, University Librarian, who expressed thanks for the gift, welcomed all guests, and introduced speakers.

Dr. James Swindal, Professor and Dean of McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts, welcomed Rev. Father Golic and I from the Serb National Federation. He stressed Duquesne’s mission: “Duquesne, as a Spiritan University, is dedicated to the Holy Spirit. The role of the Holy Spirit is God’s love for us is to bring unity. A unity that in biblical contexts brought energy to the witness of those to the Christian faith. More specifically, Duquesne University is committed – as through Spiritans who guide our mission – to interreligious dialogue. It is in fact a hallmark of our Department of Theology.” He also expressed gratitude to Milos Rastovic and the Serb National Federation, who were a key in the organization of this event: “Milos was a an MA student in our Philosophy Department when I was Chair. But, I was not just Chair, as I was also a mentor, a coach of sorts, and a fellow traveler in all things philosophical and political… I could not imagine a better Cultural Ambassador for Serbia, and one who is a true philosopher, than Milos.” Dr. Swindal concluded with the following words: “I am again so pleased for this gift, and note how it symbolizes a true and ongoing spirit of cooperation between Duquesne University and the Western American Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church – a collaboration that we trust will endure for years.”

Сви кандидати за америчког председника своје идеје су представили путем графичког дизајна. Обама је имао слово О и у њему поједностављени пејзаж, који је представљао хоризонт. То је било веома успешно решење и људима је уливало наду – каже за наш лист Звездана Стојмировић, која је недавно у СКЦ-у на Новом Београду одржала предавање о графичком дизајну. Завршила је сликарство у Њујорку и мастер из графичког дизајна у Балтимору, где данас предаје на академији MICA. Са Хелен Армстронг написала је књигу „Учествуј! Радити дизајн са корисничким садржајем”. Рођена је у Пекингу, живела у Судану, а од 1984. настањена је у САД.
